Summary

So grateful I came across this gem of a little book in my local used bookstore。 Can’t wait to start practicing some of the suggested exercises myself and then hopefully with my kids。 This one little phrase hit me like a ton of bricks, from the final chapter “Patience, trust, and letting go,” … “letting go is not the same as giving up。” 💕

Sweet, useful, and accessible。 I look forward to listening to the meditations, and possibly using them with my students。

Written for parents and their kids to practice and understand mindfulness,。 I think this is a great book for everyone as mindfulness 101。

Fabulous intro to mindfulness meditation exercises! My only mark off is because the copy I read did not have the CD, so I missed out on some of the meditations that didn't have scripts in the book。 Fabulous intro to mindfulness meditation exercises! I picked up this book as I realized that, while simple, mindfulness does not come naturally in our fast paced world。 I’ve seen many adults out of tune with their bodies, looking to medicine and caffeine and alcohol and even surgery as a way to “fix” what slowing down and being mindful could help with more simply。 I want my children to start practicing this habit while they’re young so they can communicate with their bodies through out their lives。 This book has practical advice and exercises tha I picked up this book as I realized that, while simple, mindfulness does not come naturally in our fast paced world。 I’ve seen many adults out of tune with their bodies, looking to medicine and caffeine and alcohol and even surgery as a way to “fix” what slowing down and being mindful could help with more simply。 I want my children to start practicing this habit while they’re young so they can communicate with their bodies through out their lives。 This book has practical advice and exercises that I’m looking forward to trying with my family consistently。 。。。more

Chris

Excellent book for parents curious about how to introduce mindfulness to their kids。

I got this book to help my kids with their emotions that are sometimes too big for them to handle。 I enjoyed some of the exercises and ideas of how to handle emotions。 The only part I didn’t like was that it was a little new agey and some of the consents where presented in a way that is not applicable to a biblical world view。 Like “if you just wish it hard enough it will come true。 “ I will apply the concepts, but in a different way。 Some of the exercises have helped my kids pause and recognize I got this book to help my kids with their emotions that are sometimes too big for them to handle。 I enjoyed some of the exercises and ideas of how to handle emotions。 The only part I didn’t like was that it was a little new agey and some of the consents where presented in a way that is not applicable to a biblical world view。 Like “if you just wish it hard enough it will come true。 “ I will apply the concepts, but in a different way。 Some of the exercises have helped my kids pause and recognize their emotions, not dismiss, but then not take those emotions and spew them out as anger at others, panic, or other unhealthy manifestations of those emotions。 。。。more

My daughter found the first exercise boring and difficult at first, but loved the remaining ones。 I think she has the feeling someone 'gets' her, when she is listening to the recordings acknowledging her turbulent emotions, and conflicting thoughts, and tension。 I will revisit this review in a while to say whether this worked for her and us as a family。 My daughter found the first exercise boring and difficult at first, but loved the remaining ones。 I think she has the feeling someone 'gets' her, when she is listening to the recordings acknowledging her turbulent emotions, and conflicting thoughts, and tension。 I will revisit this review in a while to say whether this worked for her and us as a family。 。。。more

This is a very well-intentioned book that didn't quite land。 I'm not sure if it was a translation issue or its age (it wasn't written that long ago but somehow feels a bit dated) - or the increase in mindfulness in culture since it came out。 Most of the things in here certainly are good ideas, but they don't feel new or too insightful - but maybe they will be for some。 Maybe it's also that it tries to speak to both children and parents。 My favorite part was discussing feelings as weather for eve This is a very well-intentioned book that didn't quite land。 I'm not sure if it was a translation issue or its age (it wasn't written that long ago but somehow feels a bit dated) - or the increase in mindfulness in culture since it came out。 Most of the things in here certainly are good ideas, but they don't feel new or too insightful - but maybe they will be for some。 Maybe it's also that it tries to speak to both children and parents。 My favorite part was discussing feelings as weather for everyone - I can see how it is a clear visualization for kids & a good reminder for everyone that feelings, like weather, are usually transient。cw for anti-fat sentiments! 。。。more
